I know on my durango...I went away for a week and when I came back my abs and brake light came on and stayed on. It ended up being one of the sensors on the brake went bad. I hope maybe this will be useful.
You may have an ABS sensor going out at one of the wheels.
Check the brake light switch. It is defective or out of adjustment.
To replace the brake light on a 2001 Dodge Durango the light lens must be removed. It is held on by a clip on one side and a hinge on another. It opens like a door to access the brake light housing.

Could be low on brake fluid. This is a sign that the brakes need attention.
Check the fuses and if they are good then check the brake light switch.
I would guess that both of your brake light bulbs are burned out, and only the high mount bulbs are still working.
