You fill the car with gas, you use up all the gas, then you fill it up again!
no power at the sending unit.
inertia
This is a common malfunction that happens when the vehicle gas tank runs out of fuel.
A tan/white wire goes from the sending unit to the fuel gauge typically on a (example) 1985 Chevrolet Silverado 305 tbi.
needs a fuel level sending unit 100 percent sure
In a 1991 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.7L engine, the temperature gauge sensor is typically located on the engine block, near the thermostat housing. It's often found on the driver's side, threaded into the intake manifold or cylinder head. This sensor sends temperature readings to the gauge on the dashboard, allowing you to monitor the engine's operating temperature. Make sure to consult the vehicle's service manual for the exact location and details.
Your gauge could be bad but sometimes the floats in the gas tank get holes in them and fill with gas. this causes the float to stay at the bottom and your gauge to read empty. U might also check the wiring from the sender at the fuel tank to the gas gauge itself.
Bad fuel level sending unit.It is located in gas tank.Tank must ne dropped to replace. Can get units from local auto parts stores.
The gauge, wiring or sending unit is bad.
I doubt it, but you can find out here... You are probably having the same issue I am with the gas gauge going crazy. If that is the case, then that is a common problem... http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm
The gauge or sensor needs to be replaced.
