The truck is a 4.6L Triton v8 2WD 1999 F-150.
I had checked the truck for oil about 2 months ago and it seemed fine, but I checked it again about a month ago and it seemed very low. Around this same time, when I would accelerate the truck a little morethan usual, the engine would start to vibrate, like it was struggling, probably bc of low oil but I didnt know it at the time.
I did an oil change and changed the filter, checked for leaks, nothing. The same problem still persist.
it is like a hesitation when I give it throttle on the highway or when i try to accelerate hard from a light. If I accelerate slowly it drives just fine, but when it starts shaking and strainging when I was to go faster right away.
I just want to hear what people think is wrong and how I could fix it. thank you in advance.
I have the same problem . I was told that the torque converter clutch could be releasing due ta a bad signal, possibly from the throttle position sensor. I have the same problem . There are many things that could cause hesitation on acceleration in a vehicle. It could be the fuel pump, the gas pump, fuel pump relay, or an electrical problem.
Could be a slight adjustment of the ( TPS ) throttle position sensor , or it may need to be replaced if it's causing a large hesitation during acceleration.
Americans had no hesitation in voting for Obama.
It could be a throttle linkeage problem or a transmission valve body problem.
Could be a bad throttle body assembly
Hesitation upon acceleration in a Taurus could be caused by a variety of issues, such as a clogged fuel filter, a dirty air filter, a malfunctioning mass airflow sensor, or a problem with the fuel injectors or spark plugs. It is best to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and address the specific cause of the hesitation.
A number of things can cause hesitation. There could be water or dirt in the tank. Also, it could be an ignition problem. Your ignition timing may be slightly off and your plugs are firing a split second off top dead center. This would account for the hesitation and subsequent bucking.
Your 1987 Astro might go full throttle when the engine is started because the throttle is sticking. This could also be a problem with the starter or the ignition hanging during the start.
The problem could be the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the side of your throttle body. If the Rpm fluctuate when stopping also. Make note of this problem with the stalling. This is the most reason why it would stall. Just make sure the other problem In explained is there too before you go out and buy a new throttle body. I had the same problem with my colbolt and the throttle body cost was 255.00 that's with tax. So good luck.
A hesitation or jerking sensation at slow or cruise speeds could be caused by issues with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or fuel injectors, a problem with the ignition system like faulty spark plugs or ignition coil, or issues with the transmission such as low fluid levels or a malfunctioning solenoid. It could also be due to a vacuum leak or a problem with the engine sensors.
While it could be an ignition problem, the most likely cuplrits are the fuel pump or the Throttle position sensor. Good Luck While it could be an ignition problem, the most likely cuplrits are the fuel pump or the Throttle position sensor. Good Luck
