The number 4 spark plug is the plug closest to the dash on the passenger side. The order of fire is 1 2 3 4 (from front bumper towards dash) on the passenger side. And starts back over to 5 6 7 8 (from front bumper towards dash). Its what Ford has chosen to do with their motors, on Chevy's it's all even on the passenger side and all odd on the driver side.... 2 4 6 8 and 1 3 5 7. Cool Huh.
