Trouble code P0761 means: Shift Solenoid C Performance or Stuck Off Trouble code P0171 means: Fuel System Too Lean (Cylinder Bank 1) Trouble code P0172 means: System Too Rich (Bank 1) Trouble code P0175 means: Fuel System Too Rich (Cylinder Bank 2)
Codes P0172 and P0175 indicate that the engine is running rich on bank 1 and bank 2, respectively. While timing issues can affect engine performance and fuel mixture, these specific codes are more commonly related to problems with fuel delivery, air intake, or sensor malfunctions (like the MAF or O2 sensors). Therefore, while incorrect timing can contribute to overall engine problems, it is not a direct cause of these rich condition codes. Proper diagnostics should focus on fuel and air management components.
To repair diagnostic codes P0172 (System Too Rich Bank 1), P0175 (System Too Rich Bank 2), and P0449 (Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Issue) on a 2007 GMC Sierra, start by checking for vacuum leaks, as they can affect air-fuel mixture and trigger rich codes. Inspect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and replace it if necessary, along with checking fuel injectors for proper function. For code P0449, examine the EVAP system components, including the vent valve and associated wiring, for faults or blockages. Clear the codes and test drive the vehicle to see if the issues persist.
It is ECM controlled But a rough idle is probably a bad fuel pressure regulator of clogged fuel filter. If the exaust smells rich its the regulator. Will also turn on P0172 and P0175 OBDII codes. Fuel system Rich on both banks.
Code P0175 Means Fuel injection system rich left bank Code P0171 means Fuel injection system lean right bank Code P0172 means Fuel injection system rich right bank
from the codes you give it should be a gas engine and you are running rich. vac leak or fuel inj. problem ect. you need to let some one check out your problem before you have other related damage. Improper engine temp or false reporting of that info to the trucks computer will cause improper fuel calculation.
one of those codes (P0300 i think) said random misfire and i had it diagnosed which ended up being one bad coil.. bought a new one and replaced it myself and it was good to go. The other codes were from a previous problem (MAF&TPS) which had nothing to do with it shaking or smelling like gas.
