It's looks like this ->O
Not sure about the 1989, but 1990-1993 it goes into the valve cover. Look for a hose running to the valve cover and the PCV valve should be what is at the end of it pushed into the valve cover.
A Ford Escort thermostat look like a small plunger. The unit has a small valve which will push open when a certain temperature is reached. Thermostats are found inside the thermostat housing.
Look on the valve cover. There is a small hose running from the air filter cover to it.
It doesn't have one. PCV functions are done by several vacuum hoses and a couple of plastic doohickies that I have never really known what to call them. Go to the Ford parts dept. Grab the oldest looking parts person there, and tell them that you need the plastic PCV pieces for an 89 Escort that look like little space ships, and some vacuum hoses to fit.
This is a very small piece. It costs no more that 5 bucks at any oil change place to have it replaced. I did my own. There was actually a diagram on the inside of the hood that pointed it out.
It has 2 leaflets.
It has 2 leaflets.
Take the oil filler cap off the valve cover and look in there while somebody else is operating the starter. If the belt is broken you won't see any movement of the valve train.
MCMLXXXIX
if you have a 2.0 spi motor its in the corner of the valve cover. does not look like a old style pcv valve
In one of the valve covers there is an elbow with a rubber hose attached. The elbow is the PCV valve.
