There's a problem with the trans. Most likely low fluid level. Check the fluid on a level surface, car running, warmed up. Be careful not to let your neck tie or scarf or loose clothing get caught in the turning fan blade or it's curtains for you brother or sister! DO NOT OVERFILL it if it needs fluid. Keep the level between the recommended lines on the dipstick. Second reason....you may have an Overdrive trans button (Fords) on the end of your gearshift lever. Push it in to engage overdrive and the light may go out. That's the EASY FIX!!!
