The letters of TDI stand for Turbocharged Direct Injection. While many people may think that the 'D' stands for diesel, this is not the case. It is true that TDI's take diesel fuel, though. Try to ensure that you only take diesel fuel with cetane levels above 48 or 49. BP currently offers the highest grade, so use theirs whenever possible. Avoid truck stops, because their fuel will have the lowest grade fuel (as low as 40).
Take out the right rear seat bottom. You will see a access panel. Remove it and you will see the fuel pump. Make sure to remove the fuel pump fuse under the dash and start the vehicle and let run until it dies to relieve the fuel pressure before you attempted to remove the pump.
