It honestly shouldn't do any damage. It would be best to stick with what the factory recommends. Personally, I don't like to use something as thin as 5w-20....but I guess the factory should know what the engine will run best on. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless they try to get you to run 20w-50 or something really ridiculous like that.
