LS, or "light second," is a unit of distance that measures how far light travels in one second in a vacuum. Since light moves at approximately 299,792 kilometers per second (or about 186,282 miles per second), one light second is equivalent to roughly 299,792 kilometers or 186,282 miles. This unit is commonly used in astronomy to express distances within the universe.

CD changers are a common area of difficulty with the LS. You can't really service one yourself, probably, other than removal/replacement of the tape unit. Your remaining options are the usual three: 1) get a new or factory-rebuilt replacement from a dealer at ridiculous cost, 2) get one from a recycler at slightly less ridiculous cost (and take your chances), or 3) replace the audio with an aftermarket unit with an LS mounting kit. Wish there was a better answer, but I don't think there is.
