The 2006 Ford Escape has a 3.0L V6 engine which gives you between 18-23 miles per gallon. There is also 2006 Ford Escape XLS models that have a 2.3 4-cyl. engine. This model gives you 21-27 miles per gallon.
On a 2006 Ford Escape XLS, the oil filter is located on the passenger side of the engine, near the front. It is positioned underneath the vehicle, making it accessible from beneath the engine bay. You may need to raise the vehicle for better access, and it is typically a round, metal canister that can be unscrewed by hand or with an oil filter wrench.
The XLT has a 16 gallon tank. The XLS has a 15 gallon tank.
