I have an 1981 camaro and the air pump on that is an emission related part located on the front of the engine compartment. My understanding is that it pumps air to to make the engine exhaust meet the emissions requirement. These pumps are not in the older prior to computer and emissions standards. Another expensive thing next to the catalytic converter. Can thank the green groups.
no the style of cammoro changed in 1992 from 2nd to the 3rd generation
How can do I replace a water pump on a 96 camaro z28
how to replace oil pump on 1994 z28
only two. one runs a/c and the other runs power steering alternator and water pump
if you are having problem with air, i would look at the pump or the carburation on engine. usually air in lines doesnt bother a gas engine
you have to remove the air intake and its right under there..but of course its deepset...no room to work on those big of motors in a camaro lol.....i got a 94 z28
the pump is located in the fuel tank
`remove drive belt. disconnect primary and secondary ignition coil harness.remove AIR pump mounting bolts and remove the unit.

Yes, it does.
You need a vacuum pump designed for that purpose.
