It is the devise that makes the electrical connection between the steering wheel and the steering column. It is what allows the rotation of the wheel and lets the airbag, horn, and cruise circuits work.
It does not have a cabin filter.

No, only a transmission from a van with a 2.4L will fit.
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine, the thermostat is at the end of it.
If you remove the filler hose from the side, you can siphon out the fuel.
Call the dealer with the vin number and they can check to see if any recalls apply to your van.
You reach over the top, or Jack the van up and reach them from underneath.
