Depends entirely n how big of tires you want to mount and how much you want to spend. You can squeeze 29" tires under a stock Grand Cherokee and then you go up from there. You get what you pay for when you buy a lift, a cheap lift will handle poorly and can be unsafe.
With the remote or pressing the lock button on the door. If lift gate does not lock, the locking cylinder may be bad, suggest replacement.
Me friend has a 1995 (same model as yours) jeep grand Cherokee with a 4in lift and it seems to be fine. I have a 1998 grand Cherokee and am thinking about putting some spacers in it.
I'm not a mechanic but I had a problem with my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee lift gate not closing properly, seemed to move to the sound causing a noise. I replaced the lift shocks and the problem disapeared

No.
Yes, but, are you using this thing for wheeling? If you just want the look, a grand Cherokee isn't really for you, because most of the stock suspension parts are no good at 5", so you need to buy a BUNCH of different parts to make it not eat tires, have a horrible ride, or fall apart. Look up Iron Rock Offroad, they have nice lift kits, and customer service for WJs (1999-2004 Grand Cherokees)
An experienced mechanic with a lift and the right tools could probably do it in several hours. It would take me at least all weekend long if I was lucky enough not to hurt myself badly along the way.
With a 2" lift these would clear.
No, you will need more than shocks to get 3 inches of lift.
yes they will i would not go bigger then that though with out a lift
Call the incredible hulk, or buy a lift kit from a auto supply store. There are several jacks that will lift a jeep, and any garage can lift a jeep.
Its the lock/latch mechanism
