A good rule of thumb is 10 lbs. pressure per thousand rpm. I don't like to see them fall below 15-20 hot, at idle, in gear, but anything above 60 lbs at wide open throttle is a waste of horsepower. Use oil viscosity to fine tune the pressure to desired limits. ie: 0w30 or 5w30 to lower the pressure, 15w40 or 30w to increase pressure. (Based on a standard of 10w30 or 10w40)
The 1979 Chevrolet 350 cubic inch engine oil pressure should be in the 40 to 45 PSI range. The more miles an engine has the lower the oil pressure will be.
No it will not. Unless the oil pressure is low on the 350 engine. If you had good oil pressure in the 305, and the 350 don't then there is something wrong with the 350. Bad oil pump, engine bearings worn out, Oil pump pick-up screen stoped up. Things like that cause low oil pressure.
The normal oil pressure for a 1969 Chevrolet 350 engine typically ranges from 30 to 60 psi at operating temperature. When idling, the pressure may drop to around 10 to 15 psi. It's important to monitor oil pressure to ensure proper engine lubrication and performance. If the oil pressure falls significantly outside this range, it may indicate potential issues with the engine or oil system.
Oil Pressure SenderRear Of Engine
The oil pressure on 91 Silverado 350 is at the rear of the engine on the driver's side, This unit is usually found above the oil filter.Ê
Engine noise.
Need to know the year.
The 1997 Pontiac Trans Am 5.7 liter engine oil pressure switch can be found on top of the engine. The oil pressure switch will be near the intake manifold.
I have a 1974 Chevy truck with the 350 V8 and the engine is in good shape. At idle the oil pressure is 35-40 PSI, at driving speed it goes up to about 50 PSI. Hope this helps.
