10 to 12 degrees btdc
need to know about the procedure for base timing on ef ford thank you
10 degrees is the base timing. chalk can be used to better see the markings. make sure the vehcile is warmked up,pull the spout out and hook up the timing light
I have a 1990 and factory setting for base timing is 10 degrees, I believe.
stock base timing is 8 degrees before TDC
The ignition timing is computer controlled - not adjustable - but the base timing is 10 degrees BTDC
To adjust the base timing on a 1996 Ford Bronco 5.8L, first ensure the engine is at operating temperature and then disconnect the timing connector, usually located near the distributor. Use a timing light to check the current timing by pointing it at the timing marks on the harmonic balancer while the engine is running. Adjust the timing by loosening the distributor hold-down bolt and rotating the distributor until the desired timing is achieved, then retighten the bolt. Finally, reconnect the timing connector and verify the timing is set correctly.
Go to www.TeamZX2.com in the knowledge base section there is a timing how to that will help...
trying to set base timing on a 97 Chevy c1500 with a 5.7 engine the wire to disconnect to set base timing is ?
The timing is controlled by the computer The base setting for all GM 1988 and above years start with 0 TDC and usually range from 2 deg to 10 deg above TDC. The computer controls if from the base setting at where it was set.
pull you #1 cyl. to top dead center and line your rotor up with the #1 post on the disb. cap.
91 octane, unless you back off the stock base line timing then you could run lower.
Base timing is set to 0 deg with a scan tool. You can not do this with a timing light.
