Hold on to your hat. I replaced one front wheel bearing on our 2002 Explorer XLT and the part was $216 and Labor $120 - total $336.
The explanation for the high cost was that the wheel bearing is more than just the wheel bearing itself - it's an assembly. And the labor was about a hour and one-quarter's worth - add some shop rags in there too - the new lug for supplies and clean up.
Still seemed steep. Our car had 75K miles and only one bearing was loose. We also had to replace - not machine - the front rotors at the same time.
Work was done at the Ford dealer. Dec 2008. I did get a card that provides some dealer bucks - 5% of the total bill goes into an in-store account good on future service. We'll get a couple of future oil changes since the total for the work came to $1040 - some other things were done also but mainly it was the two rotors and that wheel bearing.
