This is the code showing that the computer is working normally. There are no trouble codes when a code of 12 is blinking.
the bolt patter for my 1992 geo metro on a 12" wheel is a 4x100
It depends on the year and wheel configuration of your metro. Most metros have a 4 lug 12 inch wheel design whereas the Prizm has a 4 lug 13 - 14 inch wheel base. They may fit on a Geo Metro Convertible or any Geo Metro made after 1995 because after 95 the metro had 13 inch wheels. I would check by direct comparison first.
The orginial Metro comes with 12 inch tires which has to be ordered special. you have to go to bigger tire. i am about to swap my 12's out. get with dealer.
Code 12 just means that the ECM is going into diagnostic mode, this is NOT a trouble code! Code 12 should blink a couple of times pause then blink your trouble codes if you have any. If you have no trouble codes, it will resume to blink code 12 again.
In the fuse box under the dash driver side there is an empty fuse socket that is used to insert a spare fuse to have the diagnostic codes displayed by the check engine light. Perhaps some one has left a fuse in the diagnostic socket of the fuse box.
as long as the bolt patterns are the same
A 97 Geo Metro that cranks but gets no spark is not getting enough power to the ignition coil or the coil itself is bad. The coil use the 12 volts of power provided by the battery and alternator to generate a very powerful spark.
The lower right hand fuse closest to the transmission tunnel is the fuse, if there is 1 in there already! then you are probly getting codes flashing all the time with engine running or not. IF code 12 ONLY with engine OFF just remove the fuse.
The Metro is no longer made (Stopped being produced in 2001). But when they were made they were produced by Suzuki under the direction of General Motors in Ontario Canada. Some were produced in Japan but most were made in Canada through its 12 year cycle.
The diagnostic code 12 51 55 is actually not a code for the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The 12 means that it has started searching for codes. The 51 is oxygen sensor stuck lean. The 55 means it is finished searching for codes. Getting this means nothing is wrong.
The ignition timing for a 1989 Geo Metro 1.0L engine is 12 degrees BTDC. (Note, first production year for the Geo Metro was 1989 rather than 1988). In 1988 Chevy did produce the Sprint model ... in which case the timing would be as follows: With 2bbl carb: 6 degrees BTDC for automatic transmission models; 10 degrees BTDC for manual trans models. With fuel injection: 12 degrees BTDC Additional info: Distributor rotation is counter-clockwise; firing order is 1-3-2
