Depending on the shop, what they encounter inside the engine and your geographical area, I'd guess somewhere between $500 and $1,000. A shop should be able to give you a ballpark figure, but it's the unexpected that always gets you.

If they can just remove the head, mill it and put it all back together, it will be toward the low end. If the valve and guides are worn and/or stem seals are damaged, and if the water pump is failing, and if the timing chain and tensioners are worn... the price goes up.
