I don't know if it is the same but my 1991 Ford Mustang
5.0 LX had 2.73 gears with the 4 speed automatic transmission
( at 137 MPH it was loafing along at 3300 RPM in overdrive )
* I believe the Traction Lok axle codes in a Ford Mustang up to 1993 are
" M " / 2.73
" Z " / 3.08
" E " / 3.27
" K " / 3.55
" W " / 3.73

try the public library (the main branch), they often have what are called" automotive work shop repair books"
If your 1987 Mustang GT with an AOD transmission won't shift into 4th gear when using the OD setting, it could be due to several reasons. Common issues include low transmission fluid, a faulty throttle position sensor, or a malfunctioning governor that controls the shifting points. Additionally, the AOD may be in "limp" mode due to a detected issue, preventing it from shifting into overdrive. It's best to check the fluid levels and consider having the transmission diagnosed by a professional.
C-4 aod
the shift siliniod for AOD transmission is bad. it cost about 30 bucks and is usually special order
up to build date 02/16/92 was AOD. from 02/17/92 on was AODE (AOD-"Electronic") until switch to beefed up AODE-W {for wide-ratio}"4R70W" in 1995 model year. Gear ratios for AODE were same as AOD, just changover to electronic control from throttle-valve cable control.IMPORTANT NOTE: SHIFT QUADRANT FOR 1992 AODE WAS SAME AS AOD DUE TO NO "OverDrive Cancel Switch" BEING INTRODUCED UNTIL 1993 MODEL YEAR PRODUCTION!
it's either the AOD or the A4LD........... the way to tell this is the count the number of bolts on the transmission pan....18 bolts, it's the A4LD........ 14 bolts it's the AOD
CyberPsychos AOD was created in 1992.
aod stands for automatic over-drive and is a common ford transmission
Yes you can but you might to have to cut the driveshaft or get a shorter one just did it this week.
The fluid capacity of a FORD AOD is approximately 24 Pints.
