You have a problem in the glow plug system. You will need to test for a shorted glow plug by making a test harness with a 15 amp fuse in it and applying 12 volts to each glow plug to see which blows the fuse. You will also have to replace the glow plug module/relay which is loacted under the battery shelf under the hood. Be very careful when trying to remove the glow plugs. Only attempt with a fully warm engine ( drive it for 30 minutes first ). Do not try to force them to turn, they will break. You have a problem in the glow plug system. In the Mercedes Sprinter 311, the glow plug module is typically located on the engine, often near the glow plugs themselves. It is usually mounted on the cylinder head or close to the intake manifold. To access it, you may need to remove engine covers or components that obstruct the area. Always refer to the vehicle’s service manual for specific details and diagrams.
Chances are it's your glow plug relay has an open in it's coil windings or its your GPCM (glow plug control module) depending on which year you have.....? Or less likely that you have 4-6 glow plugs that have opens and are not working.... start with the module or relay (depending on year) and go from their. Good luck.
