Front drivers side next to the radiator! Looks like a large protruding box with a condenser attached
I think in 70, they integrated it into the alternator.
On older models, it was usually on the core support or inner fender. From the early 70's it was inside the alternator.
As far as I know this regulator can be used on several other 4 cylinder Honda motorcycles of similar engine size, from the late 70's models to the 90's models.
Yes you need to get new stator to generate the voltage, and a voltage regulator to limit the voltage. Add a switch and headlight. Beatrice cycle sells a stator that's a direct bolt in to replace the stator on the bike (stock stator only generates the spark energy). It will be A/C but will work fine, but only when engine is running. If you want to have a battery added to it you will need to get a voltage regulator/rectifer to make D/C.
Neon gas has a break-down voltage of about 70 volts. When the gas (in a neon voltage regulator tube) breaks down, the gas glows red. If more voltage is applied (within sensible limits) the voltage drop across the neon VR tube will still be 70 volts. This action by itself could result in a large current flowing in the gas tube and possibly to destroy it, so a resistor is placed in series with the neon VR tube to limit the current. And this is better for the neon tube as well. THUS a neon voltage regulator tube forms a reference voltage which can be used, with clever circuitry, to regulate any voltage. Other gas mixtures are used for other voltages. There are solid-state devices with similar properties.

The voltage regulator in a Volvo alternator has been built into the alternator since the 70's. To replace it, you would have to remove the alternator and disassemble it. Then the regulator can be accessed. It is probably soldered in, so you will need a good soldering gun and the ability to de-solder and solder. It would be quicker and easier to replace the alternator assembly with a remanufactured unit. massvolvoman

Thru 74 only. You need a 75 & up.
Yes, it has been a while, but I think they are the same body style, and if they are yes they will.
No. 70-74 are all alike, you missed it by 1 year. See below.
70, to 81 camaro.
