There is no minimum speed. If you hit the censor with anything it could go off. Also there is many other ways of setting them off such as static. If you contact GM they could probably tell you all ways.I had a Ford Mustang in the shop at our dealership,we removed the airbag to repair the turn signal swith,I set the airbag on the work bench about 10 feet from the brake lath and it blew up about 5 minutes later.I called our Ford help line and they said it was the static from the brake lathe that caused it.My only suggestion to you is just be extremely careful. Airbags deploy based on info received from various sensors in the car, not speed.
Hit something with the nose of the vehicle.
Chevy Malibu airbags typically deploy in moderate to severe collisions that involve a significant deceleration, often at speeds of around 8 to 14 mph (13 to 23 km/h) in frontal impacts. The exact threshold can vary based on factors such as the angle of impact, the presence of other safety features, and the specifics of the collision. Airbags are designed to deploy when the impact is strong enough to warrant protection for occupants.
The force of the collision has to be great enough
