Depending on the environment, how long it has been running, and how is has been ran (city, highway...). If you were to let your LSS idle for about 10-15 minutes, is should be at normal running temp (which is usually between 140-170 Degrees). Dont worry if your temp is slightly higher (worry if you gett past 220 normal running temp). Once you start driving, the engine should cool down or stay around the same temp. If you're driving city, and there's a lot of stop and go, you will notice that the temp will raise. Don't worry. Highway driving will usually cause a lower temp (cooler air basicly blasting around the engine).\ I own a 1996 Oldsmobile LSS with a 3.8L also. But mine is a fine-tuned GranPrix 3.8. There shouldn't be much of a running temp between the two. Let me know if you have any more questions. -James

The normal operating temperature for a 1997 Honda Passport typically ranges between 180°F to 220°F (82°C to 104°C). The engine's cooling system is designed to maintain this range for optimal performance and efficiency. If the temperature exceeds this range, it may indicate an overheating issue that needs to be addressed. Always refer to the vehicle's owner manual for specific information and recommendations.
