Oil capacities for this model engine 2.4L is 4.5 quarts WITH oil filter change. Use 5w30 it is a thin oil but there are small places that oil HAS to go. I have studied some GM 2.4L engines that used other oils and their porblem is that they had a connecting rod sticking out the side of the block. I'm not selling oil but I buy it, and I have got over 200,000 miles on one of my z24's and I use Valvoline brand. 225,000 now and still going...knock on wood...
