The rear outside axle seal on my 1968 Chevelle has on it's outside face, the number 3832418.
I am not sure if GM uses this same number for their parts inventory, but the manufacturer of the seal does.
Most front axle parts have the part number stamped on them. Your vehicle identification number should give you a complete list of every part and the part number. The list can be obtained from most auto-parts stores.
That is a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle 12 bolt rear differential.
This is General Motors part number that refers to the rear axle housing. The part number itself has been discontinued for many years.

No, a wheel and axle is a part of a moving vehicle. A weel is the part that moves the car and the axle is the part that keeps the wheels in place. A weel and axle is also a part of the six simple machines.

Nothing....it's actually a Chevelle Malibu. A lot of times....especially for the older cars, most people just drop the "Malibu" part. Improved: The Malibu is an improved trim option from the Chevelle 300 Series So from 1964 and 1965 Chevrolet Malibu (SS)/ Chevrolet Chevelle 300 (deluxe) 1966 till 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle 300(Deluxe)/Malibu/SS 1969-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle 300/Malibu/SS
yes... the outer part is the wheel and the part that the string wraps around is the axle
GM part number 987268 is a set of door edge guards to suit 1967-1968 Chevrolet Camaro models
Interchangeable with what? Nearly all of the body and interior parts interchange with a 1971 Chevelle. Most of the body and interior interchanges with a 1970 Chevelle as well. Rear axle interchanges with ANY '68-'72 GM A body. Engine and transmission interchanges with any Chevy from the 1950's up to the 1990s at least. Front suspension also interchanges with ALL GM A bodies. All small block radiators are interchangeable. All big block radiators are interchangeable. It all really depends on what part you are trying to use/replace.
