You will need a flashlight to see it. Look in the back where the jack is stored and there will be a computer box with the code on it.
The jack is located in the back on the driver's side. I think there were 4 tabs to move so you could slide the panel off.

The remote anti-theft personality module ( what a name ! ) for your keyless entry system is in your jack storage compartment. It is at the front of the compartment.

Yes, some of the 1996 Dodge 1500s did come with keyless entry. It was not standard equipment.

I'm not a mechanic / technician but I was looking at fordparts.com and comparing the heater cores for the 1996 Ford Explorer and the 2000 Ford Explorer and they show the same part number ( so apparently the answer would be YES )
