Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem--
Could be 1 cylinder not firing due to bad ignition coil or more serious problem
Bank one is "LEAN" - get a good bottle of Fuel Injector Cleaner and see if that helps.
I have the same problem off and on. I changed the fuel filter on it but what really helped was fuel injector cleaner. I'm going to put in a new wireset and spark plugs and clean the distributor caps. So basically a tune up will fix the stalling problem, it will also fix any rough idling and hesitating you might be having. First try the cleaner and see what happens.
by disconnecting the coil or plug wire and the fuel injector connector also for that cylinder.
Could be a bad coil, plug, or injector. Start with the coil first.
changed sterring column changed crank sensor and fuel pump
you have to replace the idle air control.Answermake sure there are no engine misses(badd plugs and/or wires) always monthly use stp fuel injector cleaner (black bottle only) and make sure the air cleaner isn't oiled or really dirty (replace if havent lately. sometimes they look clean but they are `NT
Its in the air cleaner lid towards the rear.
Check for a vacuum leak either under the hood or under the dash area
You can't. It's factory set and cannot be changed.
The Marquis does not have a standard code. A dealer may be able to supply the factory code for the exact car, unless the code was owner changed.
one of your plug coils is bad. (possibly more, but if it's only just a 'sputter',1) You can have your mechanic replace it for about $100. Well worht the money for such a 'Grand' car. Or you can buy one and replace it yourself.
Mercury changed the style of the Grand Marquis in 1995. 92-94 are compatible, 95-97 are compatible. You might be able to force it and figure out a way to get it to work, but it probably wont look good. My family have a 1993 and 1997 Marquis, and the front ends are different.
