check the battery and connections/cables
On most vehicles, after the problem is taken care of, the check engine light resets automatically after the ignition is turned off and then the engine is started again. If you have fixed one problem, a second problem probably exists.
On a 2001 Corvette, the ignition switch is located on the steering column, just behind the ignition lock cylinder. To access it, you typically need to remove the steering column covers. The switch is usually mounted to the column and is connected to the ignition lock, allowing the vehicle to start when the key is turned.
The ignition system is powered up and ready to run the vehicle.
Climate control blower motor was the fix. The part cost 441 dollars.
It is not supposed to be on when engine is running unless there is a problem.
The old engine sputtered to life as she turned the key in the ignition.
It doesn't want to, It's not done running yet... :) Check the ignition timing with a timing gun. When the engine continues to run after it has been shut off the problem is known is dieseling, or pre-ignition. Hope that helps.
In a 1989 Corvette, the ignition fuse is located in the fuse panel, which is situated under the dashboard on the driver's side. To access it, remove the cover of the fuse panel to find the specific fuse labeled for ignition. Refer to the fuse diagram on the panel cover for the exact location and rating of the ignition fuse. Always ensure the vehicle is turned off before checking or replacing any fuses.
If your 1993 Jeep Cherokee continues to run after the ignition switch is turned off, it may be due to a faulty ignition switch or a problem with the ignition system, such as a short circuit. Another possibility is that the engine is experiencing "dieseling," where fuel continues to ignite in the cylinders after the ignition is turned off, often due to carbon buildup or an overly rich fuel mixture. Additionally, check for issues with the fuel system or relay that might be causing the engine to keep receiving power.
I had this problem on my disco 1. Turned out to be the alternator, which was replaced and the problem was fixed.
Faulty ignition switch.
Its not your engine. Its the fan running to cool the engine down. They all do it and nothing is wrong with your car.
