Lower a arm lift
It is best done with drop spindles and springs.
lower right front of the engine
Dropped spindles & or cut the coil springs.
If you are trying to drop the front end 4 inches I would recommend replacing the stock front spindles with 3 inch drop spindles and replacing the front coil springs with 1 inch drop springs. If you cut the front springs to drop the front end 4 inches, proper alignment will be impossible.
Get lowered spindles for the front and lowered springs for the rear. Try jegs.com or jc Whitney
The 84 is not as easy to lower as the later models because it has coil springs in the front and newer models have torsion bar suspension. To lower an 84 you can cut the coil springs shorter and install lowering blocks in the rear. You can also remove the rear leafs and have the de-arched. Do not cut the springs with a torch as this will ruin the temper and they will collapse, instead use a cut off wheel. Another way to lower the front is with drops spindles or control arms but I do not know if any are made for the 1st gen trucks. After cutting the front springs the truck will require a front alignment to bring you're camber and toe into specs, if you don't you will eat through tires quickly. Kyrasis6 Owner of Mazdatruckin.com
the spring height is 1.25 in. shorter but the spring rate is different and the leaf springs are also different.
Front lower left side of the radiator
you dont need to remove coil springs to change shocks just remove 2 bolts on the bottom of the lower control arm and 1 at the top the shock goes up thru the center of the controlarm and the coil spring
This is a simple bolt-on installation. I'd suggest buying a manual if the procedure is not obvious.
