a safe-t-track rear end has RPO code G80-which is a positraction rear end and a 3.23:1 gear ratio was available having the RPO code GU5
ratio = 3.23
look on the bottom of the axle...and there should be a metal tag saying what size and ratio that axle is
The 1994 Pontiac Trans Am typically came with a few options for rear axle gear ratios, including 2.73:1, 3.23:1, and 3.42:1, depending on the specific model and options chosen. The higher the ratio, like 3.42:1, provides better acceleration but may reduce fuel efficiency at higher speeds. It's important to check the specific vehicle's documentation or rear axle identification for exact specifications.
Pontiac does not make a transmission dipstick, unless the newer ones have them. Actually, the early models did. My '96 had one. Later models did not. The trans fluid is checked via a plug in the side of the trans-axle.
The 1999 Pontiac Trans Am does not have a floating rear end; it features a solid rear axle design. This configuration provides durability and is typical for performance vehicles of that era. The solid rear axle is mounted to the chassis, which allows for better handling and stability during high-speed driving.
The 1999 Pontiac Trans Am typically came with a rear gear ratio of 3.23:1 for the standard rear axle. However, the performance-oriented WS6 package offered an upgraded 3.42:1 ratio. These gear ratios contributed to the car's acceleration and overall performance characteristics. Always check specific vehicle documentation, as variations may exist based on different options and modifications.

around 380lbs but it depends on the tranny and axle ratio around 380lbs but it depends on the tranny and axle ratio Answer: What year???? The specs can vary greatly from different years. The 1996 -1999 (2000 OBS included) are rated at 330. The trans and the axle ratio have nothing to do with the actual number itself, they will however help put down more than the stock setup, meaning unless you do mods to add more torque, the trans and gear ratio means squat.
the axle or trans-axle
where is the trans axle 2004 vue
I have found that if your lower trans axle mount has separated from the trans axle the trans axle itself drops down about three to four inches thus taking the trans axle out of alignment making it impossible to shift into reverse.
