zero degress BTC. There is also a brown wire that needs to be disconnected while adjusting the time. Some models it is under the dash and others it is near the wiper motor. I can't remember for sure which one the '94-4.3 location is at.
i have done all of that the damper mark is still not showin up under the timin light anywhere near the degree marker
Your 94 S-10 doesn't have a timing belt.

It is computer controled and not adjustable, Wrong answer, it is adjustable. I have a 94 s-10 blazer, and have set the timing more than once. Timing light and wrench to loosen the distributer.

the simple answer is YES. though, a 94 would be either a t.b.i. system or early vortec. if it is a vortec, the swap shouldn't require a p.c.m. reflash- however if your 94 is a t.b.i. you will need to change the intake and fuel delivery systems to handle the 60 p.s.i. operating pressure for the vortec engine.
1988 an up S10's, blazers,1/2 ton pickups(1500 series), Monte carlos,caprice's, astro vans, full size vans. maybe more, that's all i can think of right now. i think Chevy didnt call it the vortec until 94, but with minor variations; its still the same motor.
The recommended spark plug gap, for your 1994 Chevrolet engine, is .011. Most spark plugs will come from the store pre-gapped.
It maybe the Thermostat if it bad the 4.3 will quit and not start untile it cools down
