As with any other vehicle, this would indicate either a brake fluid leak, an empty brake fluid reservoir, or the failure of the brake master cylinder piston seals. It should go without saying that the vehicle in question should not be driven until the brakes are completely and properly repaired.
Under the dash, look up above the brake pedal.

When your foot puts pressure on the brake pedal there is a switch that relays the brake pedal being pushed to the lights which makes them turn on.
If the parking brake pedal on your 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 is stuck to the floor, you might have broken the parking brake cable. Remove the rear tires to see if the cable is still attached and replace it as needed.
The release handle is right above the parking brake pedal underneath the dashboard on left side.
chek the brake fluid level at the master cylinder, if it is empty, then you have a probable leak and \or air in lines. If it is still full, then it's probably the seals on the piston inside the master brake cylinder.

Its very easy. You can look by the brake pedal and there is a release lever with a hole in it. just pull the lever towards you and it will release.
A leak or a failed master cylinder.
Fuse 7 controls the brake lights. It should be a red 10amp fuse.
usually they will leak out the back by the booster, your brake pedal will slowly go to the floor at stops or the brake pedal will go right to the floor when pushed.
