Either the oil pressure is low, or the oil pressure sensor is faulty, or the computer is sending the message without reason.
Do-it-yourselfer can replace the oil pressure sensor. Look it up on a parts website like Rock Auto (rockauto.com) or Advanced Auto or similar site. Locate it on your vehicle. It will be screwed into the side of the engine with a wire coming out of it. Using a wrench, remove it and replace with a new one.
If this does not stop the low oil pressure message, then one of the other two reasons are the culprit and a shadetree mechanic should not tackle either of these. Take it to a professional.
