In the beginning the Ford Model T was a cheap car when compared to other cars of this class that were selling for $2,000 to $3,000. It was cheaper than the other cars being built at the time but still the average consumer could not afford one. The 1909 model sold for $850 ($22,000 in todays money). But the assembly line method of production, better efficiency, volume, and cost cutting by Ford allowed to price to be reduced to $260.
Between 1908 to 1927 over 15 million "T"s were built.
The Model T was made in Detroit.
It was cheap, simple, and easy to repair.
Model T
The model were designated by letrers, beginning with model A. Not all models were ever put in production; some desighn models never made it into production but used up a letter. There was a model S production model - I just recently heard this- before the model T. In brief the "T" stands for "T". August Jassid
Yugo was very cheap. The 1927 Model T was also cheap at $250.
The "S" was for "Supercharged." The S model from 2001 to 2006 had a supercharged engine made by Chrysler. Starting in 2007 the S model came with a turbocharged engine, now made by collaboration between BMW and Pugeot. The S model should be changed to T, but Mini stayed with the S to avoid confusion.
The Model T was made October 1, 1908
The model t was made for the general public. For the everyday man and to modernize the world.
Ford built the Model T from 1908 to 1927.
The Model T Ford was made on an assembly line which Henry Ford improved on in 1914.
It was cheap so Henry Ford would get people to buy more. They got pretty cheap and many people bought them.
