Count the bolts on the diff cover. 12 or 14? GM axles are classed by # of bolts. 12 and some 14 are semi-float rear ends, they are 6 lugs if 4x4. 14 bolts can also be a full-floater, they have 8 lugs. Do some research to find more info. Jim Allen wrote a book called Chevy & GMC pickup performance handbook, it has a lot of info throughout the many truck GM has put out.
