120-150 psi
100-125psi
The compression in each cylinder should be within 10% of the others. 125 to 140 is rather poor, below that it probably won't start.
150 to 160 psi
Bad cylinder head gasket or valves.
100-125 psi
Around 125 psi while cranking with a fully charged battery.
May i just ask. Why does it matter?! Timewaster!
all i know is my mechanic (a Great one) told me if my 6 cylinder dodge caravan sport is runnin at 3rpms and staying there it is running too hard. he said i should be doing 70-80mph for it to be at 3rpms
the 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2L (318CID) IS 99.3 mm bore, 84.1 mm stroke, 9.1 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder
125 psi approximately.
No max is listed, this is from the Chrysler service manual. # Compression should not be less than 689 kPa (100 psi) and not vary more than 25 percent from cylinder to cylinder.
Use a compression guage in spark plug hole and run engine to determine compression of each cylinder. Also, the condition of the spark plug (look for oil, anti-freeze, corrosion, deposits, etc) gives an indication of the cylinder's operation.
