This week, I have changed the brake pads on two vehicles that I have never worked on before. I jack them up and get in there with a full set of Allen keys and small wrenches within reach. I look and see if it needs an Allen key or wrench and approximately what size. Then I try tools that may fit till I find the correct one -usually within 2 tries. - This is not a complicated exercise. . . .
On some later model Fords the calipers have 7mm Allen heads, -an unusual size.
American cars never used Bristol keys. The Suburban most likely uses a 3/8 Allen key on calipers.
I believe that needs a 3/8 Allen or some models, 7mm Allen.
Which allen wrench to change brakes on mazda tribute 4wd 2005?
It is not Allen . It is a 14 mm open wrench
7 mm. It isn't in most compact wrench kits.
Try 7mm -it's not in many Allen sets, which is why Ford picked it.
I just did my 2005 Ford Escape front brakes and the caliper was 7mm Allen and main holder is 18mm ...RRR Wis.'
it is on top of the block you have to use a 1 inch wrench to get the black cap off
they are located in the engine block. You'll need an extension to the wrench in order to get them out.
I believe that's a 5/16. or possibly 3/8 Allen.
take out top slide pin using Allen wrench push and pry top of calliper down , i mean way forward streching hose slightly and take caliper and slide it off the bottom slide pin .
