Take apart the steering column- You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library.
Rim size is 14 inch. It take 185-65-14 tires.
On a 1996 Ford Contour : Open the drivers door and on the end of the door ( or the latch pillar ) you will see an information sticker that shows the size of tires on the vehicle from the factory
Look on the drivers side door at the specs decal.
