If you are speakingof a pre-1998 Beetle, the answer is VERY simple !
They are are "air-cooled" ..... in other words air scoops channel cold air over the engine & oil housing to cool it ( OTE: it is for this reason why you have to be careful to keep the oil topped up .... I mean it, oil gets low - engine gonna blow !!!!
If you mean in a 1998 and newer it uses G12 and it is hard to find outside the dealer.I bought mine off eBay and it is mixed half and half with distilled water.
Coolant for a 2006 VW Bettle is put into the coolant overflow tank. As it is needed, the radiator will automatically pull in additional coolant.
Need to release air from the radiator, where is the bleeder valve on 1999 VW beetle
To bleed the coolant system on a 1998 VW Beetle, remove the top from the overflow tank. Run the car for 10 to 15 minutes to force any air out of the system, then check the coolant level. Add coolant as needed.
Start by taking the top off of the coolant overflow reservoir. To bleed the system, run the 1998 VW 2.0 Beetle about 10 minutes, then check the coolant level. Add coolant if needed, then replace the reservoir top.
1998 vw beetle what type of oil
2004 vw beetles have an aluminum engine therefore require the blue colored coolant.
some
It doesn't need coolant. It's aircooled if you didn't already know that.
2001 Volkswagens used a coolant called G12. It is pink. It is no longer sold by Volkswagen. It was made by Pentosin, who still sells it as Pentofrost SF.
