Yes, you can technically swap a Buick Century 3100 motor into a 2001 Monte Carlo SS, but it may require modifications such as adjusting engine mounts, wiring harnesses, and possibly the transmission. The 3100 engine is a V6 like the one in the Monte Carlo, but compatibility issues may arise due to differences in sensors and electronics. It's advisable to consult with a mechanic experienced in engine swaps for a detailed assessment and to ensure a successful installation.

i do believe that the camshaft sensor on the 3100 v6 motor is on the passeger side of the motor underneath the intake manifold and under the powersteering pump. i needed to replace the one on my 1996 lumina with that same motor and that's where i fould it. hope this helps.
The 3400 is a new version of the 3100; therefore, everything needs to be identical. Both Monte Carlos were interchangeable.

The 3100 Engine (code M in VIN.#) motor has a 4T60E Transmission. The 3800 Engine (code K in VIN.#) motor has a 4T65E Transmission. Hope This Helps you, Brett
no it wont differant sensors locations and 3.1l dont have crank sensor on the back of the block
Look where the thermostat is attached to the intake manifold
the local shop wanted $1400. DIY cost me about $700 for gasket set and having heads checked.
no, you can only swap a 96-98 Monte Carlo 3100 transmission, i am having the same problem with my 95, you can only swap a 95 with a 95....96 through 98 are interchangeable. pontiacs have a different bolt pattern on them anyway.
i dont see why not but its much more hassle then its worth. if you want more power start somewhere else
