No engine lube at start up. Bad oil pump or very dirty engine lube passages.
The brand of fuel you are using may cause it. I had started using UNOCAL super for awhile in my Buick Regal/86 and it went away. It had started when the blend in my preferred fuel was modified for the season change. Go up a grade of fuel or change station brands for awhile. /Alex
A hole in the muffler would cause a knocking sound in your muffler. A loose exhaust pipe can also cause a knocking noise.
Yes, wrist pins can cause knocking problems in an engine. If the wrist pins are worn or damaged, they may allow excessive movement of the piston, leading to improper alignment and increased clearance between the piston and cylinder walls. This can create a knocking sound, often referred to as piston slap, especially at lower RPMs. Additionally, if the wrist pins are not properly lubricated, it can exacerbate wear and knocking issues.
