Install a new thermostat, and check the pump for proper operation. Also make sure to run a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and distilled water. Do not run any other mix or pure water.

That solenoid is a momentary solenoid. If it is used constantly it will get hot.

Once the thermostat has opened, the hot coolant flows from the thermostat housing on the engine into the top of radiator and out the bottom of the radiator back into the water pump.
A burning or hot odor on a 2007 Ford Mustang could be coming from the transmission. There are several sensors in the transmission that could also be the culprit. A wire might be melting that is connected to one of the sensors.

The power top on a 66 Mustang convertible doesn't have a fuse. There is a circuit breaker attached to the hot side of the starter solenoid with a wire that goes to the switch on the dash, and the wiring goes from the switch to the pump/motor assembly that is mounted between the trunk and the rear seat back. No fuse.
