Yes. You can. It is very normal, but will take some time if you want to do it yourself.
No. There are always problems with engine swaps. It depends on how much you are willing to take on. However, this would be a relatively easy swap.
Im assuming 6.6 as a 400 C.I. engine if its a Chevrolet take out the V-8 and drop the other in. If its a 403 Olds engine I would look for a big block Chevy (396, 427, 454) for an easier swap. You would need to run the BB motor mounts but the transmission will bolt up. Running the 403 you would have to change the transmission to a BOP model. (Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac). Stick with the Chevy stuff it will be a lot easier and the BB will fit under the hood
Your going to need the proper wiring harness to make this work. Aftermarket harnesses are available and would spend the money for it as this is a great swap using the LS3
easy, take out the old engine, and put in the 350. it really is that simple.
Would you like to take part in a house swapping program?
The Chevy Gen I motor spanned from 1955 to 1995 with almost no changes to the bottom end or the block it self. So basically, if it's a pre-95' motor, a 350 is a 350 is a 350... almost any Chevy will take it. If you're going carburated you should be fine, but if you're are going FI, which i recommend, be prepared to deal with the ecu swap to. That's gonna be the most crucial part of the swap. But anything is possible, aside from a smart car, I don't think there's a car out there that hasn't had a 350 swap done. Be creative and have fun. Best of luck to ya...Answeryup
You would need to swap the auto transmission to a stickshift transmission of the same type of vehicle. eg. take the ae 86 corrola and its auto, and swap for the ae 86 manual (stick)
Just unhook everything, take engine out and put the other one back in and hook it all back up. That's it your done.
If the "oldsmobile" was made in the last 20 years, it is computer controlled.
the 95 and the 93 full size pick ups are identical there should be no need to swap parts the 95 vortec from an S-10 will need the entire intake manifold, exhaust, sensors, and wiring harness from the 93 to make it run
For ease of installation, less problems, more reliabilty when done the rule of thumb is find the same year, make model & engine size (by vin #, 8th digit is engine, 10th is year). and put in exactly what you take out.
