Blown fuse, or defective headlight bulb.
It is possible for the check engine light to come on in a Pontiac Transport when using ethanol gasoline because it burns hotter than other gasoline. The check engine light might also come on if the oxygen sensor is bad.
The 1997 Pontiac Transport has 2 different alternators . One is 105 amps and the second is 140 amps. It will depend on the power equipment you have on your vehicle. You may want to get an AVR test to make sure that it is the alternator before changing it. That test is about $30.00. Good luck
Check the switch and make sure it is working. If it is, the problem may be the wiper motor itself, which will be located inside the rear panel on the back door...the wiper will be connected to it.

They dont make them anymore.
Gm does make Pontiac, but Jeep is a Chrysler brand.
Pontiac was owned by GM. They closed Pontiac down in 2010.
no, it would make everything in the car dim because of no charge going to the battery
I'd start with the parking brake I have had cars that would back up but not go fwd when it was on. Stuck maybe? Good luck. David
