The first year fuel injection was in the Wrangler form the factory was 1991 for the 4.oL. The 4 cylinder initially was a throttle body then multiport later, but I do nto remember what years those happened. When I was looking for the one I have now, the blogs about carb problems is what prompted me to determine 1991 was the oldest I would buy. I did used & still have it 10 years later.

Sort of, you see the 89 Jeeps had Throttle body injection. This differs from actual fuel injection because instead of injecting into the intake prior to the valve, it injects fuel into the throttle body through just one injector instead of multiple injectors. Better than a carburetor, but not quite as good as injection as far as fuel economy is concerned.
