Whats the best way to remove a stuck top nut on a front strut for a 1987 fire bird strut rod keeps turning when trying to loosen?
There is a specialty tool designed for that purpose. You may have a slot or tab in the top of the "strut rod", if you don't have the right tool, you have to use a wrench on the bolt (turning counter clockwise) and a large screw driver on the slot (turning clockwise) or a pair of vise grips on the tab (turning clockwise). I ended up using a "nut splitter", but this isn't the best way, because most struts require that you reuse your hardware. A trip to ACE and I was good.

Most motorcycle ignitions have whats called a "shear bolt" I think, they're designed to "shear" off the hex portion of the bolt when installing the ignition. This prevents theft. Usually to remove the cone type bolt the best way it to use a steal center punch and hit the head of the bolt to turn it counter-clockwise to loosen it.
