I'm not positive, but I do believe that it reads the original mileage. If it read that of the replacement, people would make their cars appear newer by replacing the computer. Besides, I'm pretty sure the odometer is its own instrument and has its own memory, and has little connection with the computer iteslf.
There isn't a separate computer for just the odometer. Attached to the firewall behind the coolant bottle is the main computer. There are 3 cables that plug into the front of the computer and the odometer is in there. When you buy a new or refurbished computer for your jeep you need the vin number and the odometer reading so the computer can be programmed for your jeep. Meaning the odometer reading is in the main computer
Because your odometer, or something connecting the odometer to the battery, is broken. Most likely the odometer is the problem if the rest of your dashboard is working fine.
It is non-servicable, so repair requires replacement of the speedometer/odometer assembly.
Drive a couple miles and it will show a different number.
By changing it to miles!
go to the bottom metric push and change on a dashboard com immediately
To fix the odometer in your 1990 Plymouth Horizon, start by removing the instrument cluster to access the odometer mechanism. Check for any broken gears or connections, as these are common issues. If you find damaged parts, you may need to replace them or consider a replacement odometer unit. Reassemble the cluster carefully and test the odometer to ensure it's functioning properly.
Disconnecting the odometer, vin, title, or any other identifying automobile information is not only illegal, it is dishonest. I do not advise falsifying the odometer for any reason whatsoever. One more piece of information, many odometers in late model vehicles are computer controlled, so unless you are a computer scientist, you will not be able to crack the factory computer to alter this parameter. Although, removing the "meter" fuse will disable your odometer and speedometer....
Depends on the condition of the vehicle and the mileage on the odometer. You can find out for yourself here if you have this information.http://www.nada.com
try changing the vehicle speed sensor on the back of the trans
The odometer is electronic, there is a plug in on the back of the speedometer, however the plugin for the odometer also may power other controls, so this may not be a good idea. I dont know why your trying to stop the odometer but your out of luck the computer keeps track of your information your odometer is just a read out like a monitor
To repair the speedometer and odometer in a 1991 Volvo 940, first, check the vehicle's speed sensor, which may need cleaning or replacement if faulty. If the speedometer gauge itself is malfunctioning, you may need to remove the instrument cluster and inspect the connections and solder joints for damage. For odometer issues, often the gears inside the odometer mechanism are worn and may require replacement. If you're not comfortable with these repairs, consider consulting a professional mechanic.
