It could be your speed sensor. Mine ran fine for the first 15 min or so, then it would shift into first and stay there and I'd have to drive home in first, and was told that it could be the speed sensor. If it's not working properly, it lets the computer think that you're not moving, so it,(the tranny), does what it's supposed to, and drops to first gear. Hope this helps.

Does the TPS sensor have anything to do with the transmission down shifting?

Yes, the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) plays a crucial role in transmission downshifting. It monitors the position of the throttle and sends this information to the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU uses this data to determine when to downshift the transmission, optimizing performance and responsiveness based on the driver's inputs. A malfunctioning TPS can lead to improper shifting behavior, affecting the overall driving experience.

Will throttle position sensor cause hard shift?

The Throttle Position sensor measures the throttle position, which is controlled by the gas pedal. It is used to determine engine load and if it fails it can cause automatic transmission shifting problems.

What cause of early shifting of automatic transmission?

A sensor has failed, and is reporting the wrong value to the transmission controller. Old transmissions: Probably the vacuum modulator or throttle position sensor. Also check the fluid level. New Transmissions: Output speed sensor, turbine speed sensor, throttle-position sensor, fluid pressure sensor, and sensors on the engine.
