Most suggest around 60K
== Very important when changing a timing belt is to align marks and tension is correct. Its not just like changing a fan belt. Get it wrong and could cause thousands of damage to a modern motor.
You should change the timing belt every 50,000 miles. Most cars made in the last decade have a timing chain instead of a belt, and those last much longer.
Most Asian cars tend to have a timing belt. If you have a maintenance schedule, see if there is a timing belt change interval. If so, it is a belt.
Replacing a timing belt may not be difficult for some people depending on how well you know cars. If you are not someone who knows how to work on cars, a professional should probably replace the timing belt for you.
Some vehicles have a timing belt, some have a timing chain and some have timing gears.
Check your service book that came with the car and look through all the scheduled services till you find reference to changing the timing belt and that will tell you what kms you should change it at. Most cars have the timing belt changed every 100000km but I think the CRV 2001 I had it was 150000km.
If you are a fan of cars you can look this information up. There should be information on this in car books or online.
every 60.000m for most cars with belt is recommended
These cars had a problem with the teeth on the original timing belt coming off and the belt not breaking. if this has happened most likely you have bent valves too. These are a interference engine which means if they slip on the timing the valves hit the pistons. Chevrolet should have recalled these cars and put a better timing belt in them. Instead they did a goodwill service where they paid for a new timing belt if the owner paid to install it. Timing belts on these cars are usually replaced every 90K; you don't want to have a timing belt go while you are driving... :(
Hi,i have just found out that you should get the cam belt changed at around 45000 miles.go and have a look on usedcarexpert.co.uk you can find out almost anything to do with cars
I found out that my 2002 Rav 4 has a timing CHAIN, no belt, even after the dealer service shop said they would change the BELT. I believe all cars newer than mine will still have a timing change which doesn't need replacing. Sorry for the double posting, but I can't edit the previous: I found out that my 2002 Rav 4 has a timing CHAIN, no belt, even after the dealer service shop said they would change the BELT.
